These programs are intended for individuals who are trained as a CPR and/or first aid provider, or have an identified job classification in which there are tasks or procedures that increase the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. There are no class prerequisites.
The goas of these trainings is to provide knowledge to employees with an identified risk on how to avoid exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, and what steps will be taken if an exposure occurs.
Additionally, we will cover HIV / AIDs topics such as All of the following will be covered: (1) Types of testing methods (2) Informed consent requirements (3) Pre and post test counseling requirements (4) Confidentiality, accuracy of testing (5) Case reporting requirements (6) Legal and ethical ramifications involved to protecting patients or employees who is HIV positive (7) Preventative measures and controls involving safe sex methods, lifestyle changes, pre-natal care, substance abuse, and discrimination (8) Psychological impact of HIV and AIDS on the family as well as the roll of the healthcare worker will be addressed.
